3 Tips To Provide An Engaging Video Conference Presentation

Maybe you’ve got a company pitch coming up, a class project on the horizon, or another kind of presentation in the next few months. If so, it’s probably virtual these days.

So how do you engage your audience through the screen? Fast Company offers the following tips to help you nail your virtual presentation:

#1 Bring the energy.

We’ve all been in an audience where the energy is electric and contagious. We’ve also all been in an audience where the energy is humdrum and it too is contagious. Whether in-person or over the screen, a presenter must bring the energy.

Especially while giving a virtual presentation, a presenter needs to be able to project energy through the screen. To do so, use vocal variety, hand gestures facial expressions, and upright posture.

#2 Your hands can (and should) talk.

Position yourself with just right amount of space between you and the camera, so that your hands make it in the shot. Keep your gestures in the front of your body. Also, note that your head should take up 1/3 of the screen space.

Use hand gestures to enhance and add to what you are saying. Practice gesturing ahead of time to ensure that your gestures match the meaning of your speech.

#3 Stand up.

While you may be tempted to sit, standing can help you to bring and maintain the energy. Standing can also boost your confidence and improve your posture.

All three of these elements add up to create an engaging presentation. Break a leg!
